Thank you for visiting this page. We as family would like to thank the print media for the greatest support they have been extending for Sathya's efforts to perform Carnatic on Keyboard. We are sure this has been a major reason as Sathya could not have reached to what ever level he is placed in the minds of the general public without this. It has been a real boon for Sathya, as he has been getting blessings from all the print media in Chennai and also from all the cities or towns he performs. இனிய சனி வாரம் காலை, இசை இதயத்தைத் தொட்ட நாள், சனிக்கிழமை திருப்பதிப் பெருமாளுக்கு உகந்த நாள். அதனால் தானோ என்னவோ, திரு. கிருஷ்ணபாபு, திருப்பதி தம்பதியர் தங்கள் செல்ல மகன் சத்யநாராயணனின் இசைத் தொகுப்பு (Musical Album) வெளியீட்டு விழாவை இன்று அமைத்திருந்தனர். காலை 8.55-க்கு நிகழ்ச்சி துவக்கம்.சிற்றுண்டி அருந்த நேரமின்மையால் நேரே அரங்கத்துக்குச் சென்றோம்.

பிரம்ம கான சபா, லஸ் கார்னர். உள்ளே நுழைந்ததும் தம்பதியர் அனைவரையும் இன்முகம் காட்டி வரவேற்றனர். செவிக்கு உணவில்லாத பொழுதுதான் சிறிது வயிற்றுக்கும் ஈயப்படும். இது சொல் வழக்கு, ஆனால் இவர்களோ உள்ளே நுழைந்ததும் சிறிது வயிற்றிற்கு அருந்தி விட்டு உள்ளே செவி இன்பத்தைப் பருகலாம் என்று அன்புக் கட்டளை இட்டனர்.

அரங்கத்தில் அந்தக் காலை நேரத்தில் நல்ல கணிசமான ரசிகர்கள், நண்பர்கள், ஊடக உறவுகள் என அனைவரும் நிறைந்திருந்தனர். திரு. ரங்கநாதன் அவர்கள் நிகழ்ச்சியை மாலையாகத் தொடுத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்.

இசை வெள்ளத்தில் அனைவரையும் கரைக்க ஆரம்பித்தனர், நவராக மாலிகா வர்ணத்தில் ஆரம்பித்து, கம்பீர நாட்டை மல்லாரியில், ராகமாலிகா கற்பனா ஸ்வரம் பேஷ் பேஷ், ஹரிகம்போதியில் தியாகராஜரின் தினமணி வம்ச கிருதியும், பாரதியாரின் சின்னஞ்சிறு கிளியே பாடலும் கேட்டவர்களைப் பரவசப் படுத்தியது , சின்னஞ்சிறு கிளியே பாடல் அனைவரையும் மெய் மறக்கச் செய்தது.

வயலின் மேதை டாக்டர் திரு. M.சந்திரசேகர் அவர்கள் முன்னமே வந்து இசையை ரசித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார். மிருதங்க வித்வான் டாக்டர். உமையாள்புரம் சிவராமன் அவர்களும் திரு. நடராசன், முன்னாள் தொலைக்காட்சி இயக்குனர், அவர்களும் வந்து விழாவைச் சிறப்பிக்கச் செய்தனர். கிரி ட்ரேடிங் நிறுவனமும் பிரம்மகான சபாவும் சத்யநாராயணனின் இசைத் தொகுப்பை (MUSICAL ALBUM) வெளியீட்டுக்கு ஏற்பாடு செய்து இருந்தனர்.

விழாவில் வயலின் மேதை திரு M.சந்திரசேகர் அவர்கள் சத்ய நாராயணனை மனதாரப் பாராட்டி, தான் பேசும் பொழுது கூட, வாய் பேசுகின்றது ஆனால் தன்னுடைய காதுகள் இன்னும் மல்லாரியில் மயங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றது என்று கூறி சத்யாவை மனதார வாழ்த்தினார். மேலும் அவர் கூறுகையில், கமகங்கள் கீ போர்டில் வராது, ஆனால் சத்யா அதை வர வைத்தது மட்டுமல்லாமல் பாடிய உணர்வே இருந்தது என்று சொன்னது அனைவரையும் மெய்சிலிர்க்க வைத்தது. மிருதங்க வித்வான் டாக்டர் திரு. உமையாள் புரம் சிவராமன் அவர்கள் சத்யாவின் இசை ஆற்றல், இளம் வயது சாதனைகளை வெகுவாகப் பாராட்டி, சத்யாவின் வெற்றிக்கு உறுதுணையாக இருந்த அவரது பெற்றோரையும் பாராட்டினார்.

மேலும் திரு. சிவராமன் அவர்கள் “நானும் சந்திரசேகரனும் சத்யாவுடன் கச்சேரி வாசிக்க ரெடியாக இருக்கோம்” என்று கூறியது சத்யாவிற்கு மிகப் பெரிய ஆசீர்வாதம். மேலும் திரு. நடராஜன், பிரம்ம கான சபாவின் உப தலைவர் என்ற முறையில், “நீங்கள் அடுத்த டிசம்பரில் கண்டிப்பாக எங்கள் சபாவிலே வாசிக்க வேண்டும்” என்று கூறிய பொழுது திரு. சிவராமன் எழுந்து, “ஏன் அடுத்த டிசம்பர் வரை தள்ளிப் போடணும்? அதற்கு முன்னமே வாசிக்க நாங்கள் ரெடி”, என்று கூறியது சத்யாவிற்கு பாக்கியமோ பாக்கியம்!

அந்தத் திருநாள் ரசிகர்களுக்கு ஒரு நல்ல விருந்தாக இருக்கும் என்பதில் ஒரு சந்தேகமும் இல்லை. மழலைகள் இசை என்றாலே மனம் மகிழும்.மழலைப் பருவம் முதல் இசை மழலைகளின் அரவணைப்பில் வளர்ந்து இன்று இமயம் தொடப் புறப்பட்டிருக்கும் சத்ய நாராயணனை ராம்ஜி இசை மழலை Ramjhi Isaimhalai அவர்கள் வெகுவாகப் பாராட்டி சத்யாவின் தொடர் வெற்றிக்கு வாழ்த்துத் தெரிவித்தார். திரு. நல்லி குப்புசாமி அவர்கள் நிகழ்ச்சி தொடங்கும் முன்னமே வந்து சத்ய நாராயணனை வாழ்த்திச் சென்றார், நேரமின்மை காரணமாக.

தகவல் களஞ்சியம் திரு. நடராசன் (முன்னாள் தொலைக்காட்சி இயக்குனர்) அவர்கள் சத்யாவின் ஆரம்ப நாள் முதல் அவரது வளர்ச்சியைக் கண்டு பெருமை கொண்டு, அவர் மேலும் பல சாதனைகள் படைக்க வாழ்த்தினார். விழாவில் சத்யாவின் நான்கு இசைக் குறுந்தகடுகள் வெளியிடப் பட்டது. அவை சத்யாவின் வெற்றிப் படிகளுக்கு வழியாக இருந்தவர்கள் முறையே கௌரவிக்கப் பட்டபின், அவர்களால் பெற்றுக் கொள்ளப் பட்டது. இறுதியாக சத்யநாராயணன் தனது நன்றி கலந்த வணக்கத்தை ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் தெரிவித்துக் கொண்டார், விழாவில் நாதஸ்வர வித்வான் அடையாறு பாலசுப்ரமணியன், தவில் வித்வான் செந்தில்குமார், மிருதங்க வித்வான் சுவாமிநாதன், தாளம் ராஜேஷ் அனைவரும் கௌரவிக்கப்பட்டனர்.

It is so nice of Mr Ravichandran, Secy Brahma Gana sabha Top (right in the picture) to have mentioned Sathya's name in his interview! This actually happened on the 11th December, 2006 as he was returning from Mumbai after winning the POGO 2006 Amazing Kid Musician award. We got to know of this oppurtunity as we switched on the mobile as the flight was landing and rushed straight to venue enroute picking up the traditional dress for the concert. Thanks to teh accompanying artists namely Sri B. Ananthakrishnan, Sri Neyveli Narayanan and Sri B. S. Purushothanamn for having accepted to eprform with Sathya at the last minute intimation!

As part of the ongoing music season series, vani mahal had organised a keyboard concert by Sathyanarayanan which made the listeners glued to their seats. Entering into the musical field at a very early age, who had earned laurels very fast is studying in 9th standard at the Padma Seshadri School. His musical gurus include starlwarts like vocalist Balamuralikrishna, violinist Kanyakumari, and mandolin srinivas. He had started playing the keyboard and learnt music from the very tender age of six had earned name and fame very soon from all the leading musicians. Beginning his concert with Ekadantham in the raga Bilahari in misra chapu talam kept the listeners sway to the melliflous music amidst the evening traffic hues. Paying obeisance to his gurus he rendered Pavana guru in the raga hamsanandhi set to rupaka talam, had worn the hearts of all those gathered at Vani mahal. Next he rendered Chandram Bhaje, followed by Bhogindra Sayeenam in Kuntalavarali ragam. Next in adhi talam in raga narayani he played Ramaneve which had earned a huge applause by the crowd gathered there for having given a pure carnatic music on the keyboard with tradition blended in it. Upon the request of the listeners he next rendered Pankaja lochana in kalyani raga set to adhi tala, which had earned double applause from the audience present on the evening. Showing his gratitude to the listeners encouragement he next played Chandrasekhara in raga Sindhu bhairavi set to eka talam. Next he played and concluded his conert on the keyboard by playing a thillana in Paras raga and had won the hearts of all. Amidst earning huge laurels and thunderous applause, Sathyanarayan was accompanied by Ananthapadmanabhan on the violin, Sankaranarayanan on the mridangam and Harihara sharma on the ganjira. The concert was a feast to the ears of the listeners .

Concert tour
K. Sathyanarayanan, a 14-year old musician performing Carnatic music on the keyboard, recently returned after a two-month concert tour of the US and Canada. Starting his tour on the 3rd of April, 2009 with a lec-dem in Portland, USA, Sathyanarayanan performed 19 concerts and a few lec-dems until the 31st of May, 2009. This tour, organised by Smt. Kala Iyer of Kalalaya, San Jose, CA, USA had Sathyanarayanan on the keyboard, Embar S. Kannan on the violin, Poongulam Subramanian on the mridangam and T. Krishnababu on thalam.

2009 has started off well with Sathya performing a krithi at The Music Academy premises for Carnatica along with all the artists, celebrating the arrival of New Year. Sathya also performed his 1st full concert for the year 2009 on the 1st Jan'09 at Sri Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple, Mylapore for a 2 a hour concert from 7 - 9 am.

CHILD PRODIGY PERFORMS IN CITY

Let me introduce K. Satyanarayana, son of Krishna Babu, aged 12 years, studying in seventh standard. Yes, but what is so special about him? The speciality is that he plays Karnatak music on the foreign cousin of harmonium – Key Board. Any student of music knows how difficult it is to produce Gamakas in a harmonium.The electronic Key Board has solved this difficulty by introducing a special lever, operating of which will produce both the upper and lower Gamakas. It takes years of practice to generate perfect music even with all the modern facilities available in this instrument. But not this boy. He can play the instrument deftly and if you listen to the recording, one gets a feeling of a matured artiste performing.

This child prodigy performed at Veene Seshanna Bhavana last week on the last day of Purandhara Tyagaraja Aradhana of Gana Bharati. The Mano Dharma he displayed was of high standard. The boy announced at the beginning of the concert that he would play compositions of both Saints alternatively. He began with Gajavadana Beduve (Hamsadhwani-Adi-Purandhara Dasa) and Guruleka (Gowri Manohari-Khanda Chapu-Tyagaraja).

In both the initial renderings, he displayed maturity by playing some simple Swaras and a simple Muktayas. A fine prelude of Alapane in Bhairavi lead to Odi Barayya (Purandhara Dasa — Adi) in Madhyama Kaala, which could have been more melodious, if it were to be in Vilamba Kaala. Tyagaraja’s Ninuvina Namadendu (Navarasa Kannada) has full scope to display virtuosity and command over the instrument, which he successfully made the most of it. He chose Kalyani as the main Raga of the evening. There was a good Alapane, replete with intricate Gamakas.

The composition Birana Brovayide by Tarangampady Panchanada Iyer (a disciple of Shyama Shastry) immortalised by Shemmangudi was pleasing. The Swara Prastara contained a Ragamalike in Rasika Priya, Mohana and Charukeshi. The tailpiece was Tamburi Meetidava (Sindhu Bhairavi-Purandhara Dasa), Vandanamu (Shahana-Tyagaraja), Bhagyada Lakshmi (MadhyamavathiPurandhara Dasa) and a Tamil composition. Master K. Satyanarayana played Carnatic music on the keyboard under the auspices of Naadham at Rathna Regent, Coimbatore, where some of his fans had brought their friends along. The organisation brings to light young talent. Only this time, the ar tiste was young (12 years), but not his talent.

Satyanarayana’s concert was marked by vivacity, speed and vibrant imagination.

He commenced his concert with a varnam in Vasantha and moved on to ‘Vara Vallabha Ramanaa’ (Hamsadhwani-GNB). Apt for a Saturday, he sang the Navagraha kriti, ‘Diwakara Tanujam, Sanaihcharam’ (Dikshitar) and followed it up with ‘Sadhinchane,’ Pancharatna kriti in Arabhi (Tyagaraja).

Elegant presentation

‘Sogasu Jooda Taramaa’ (Kannadagowla) was presented elegantly while ‘Kanda Joodumee’ (Vachaspathi) was taken for detailed presentation with adequate alapana, niraval and swarakalpanas.

With an unassuming smile on his lips, Satyanarayana let his nimble fingers dance on the keyboard pouring out soft, soothing swaras.

‘Muruga Muruga Enraal’ (Saveri) by Periyasami Thooran and ‘Saarasamukhi’(Gowda Malhar) by Muthaiah Bhagavatar were right in place before he entered into a leisurely alapana of Thodi for ‘Shree Krishnam Bhaja Maanasa’ (Dikshitar).

B. Ananthakrishnan on the violin was most supportive and his solos drew wide applause.

After this sumptuous feast followed the thani which was nothing short of an ecstatic dance by Kumbakonam Swaminathan on the mridangam and Harihara Subramaniam on the ghatam.

After the thillana in Desh, Satyanarayana wound up with ‘Ramdhun’ giving his concert a sober, spiritual conclusion.

If his skill and ‘gnanam’ earned him the admiration of the discerning rasikas, his tender age endeared him to everyone.

THE Music Lovers Group (MLG) will host an Indian classical (Carnatic) keyboard concert by child prodigy Sathya on April 20 at the Indian Cultural Centre.The 12-year old musician, who made his debut when he was six, released his first album at the age of eight and went on to bring out three more by the time he was 11.

One of the youngest in the world to pass the 8th grade of Trinity College, London examination on electronic keyboard, Sathya has also got a natural flair for playing the violin and is a promising singer.“He can listen to a song sung or played on an instrument and reproduce it on his keyboard and can tell its notes,” a spokesman of MLG said yesterday.Sathya has sung under the baton of music directors S A Rajkumar, Deva, Vidyasagar and Devi Prasad.

Also a composer, he has one project under his belt - Avar Parvai: Avar Punnagai, a collection of eight songs on Aurobindo and the Mother, is awaiting a sponsor.Sathya is a disciple of mandolin maestro Padmashree U Shrinivas since February 2004. Despite his busy schedule, Sathya goes to school - he is a Class 6 student of the Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan in Chennai.For his Doha concert Sathya will be accompanied on the violin by Ananthakrishnan and on the mridangam by Suryanarayanan Raju.
